The ADPD was established in 1952 under its original name, the Academy of Dentistry for the Handicapped (ADH). In 1988, ADPD joined the Federation of Special Care Organizations in Dentistry - known today as the Special Care Dentistry Association (SCDA). ADPD has always been committed to excellent dental care for persons with disabilities.
